There never seem to be enough hours in the day for me to get everything done that I want to accomplish. One of those things is keeping a journal of our family as we grow and change over the years. I started this blog, mainly for myself, as a way to quickly compile those special memories and events in our lives. And if our family and friends can keep in touch by reading about those special times in our lives too, then that's even better!

Happy Birthday Dylan!!!

It's hard to believe that 14 years ago today, Colby and I welcomed our first child into the world. What a day! You can't explain what it is to hold your child for the first time to someone who hasn't done it. There are no words to describe the extreme wave of love that washes over you, the abundant gratitude for the gift God has just blessed you with, the strong instinct to protect this new little life you've been given to watch over & care for. That all became clear to Colby and I at 1:11pm on Tuesday, March 19, 1996 when Dylan Jason Logan was born. 8 lbs, 4.5 oz, and 21" long....he was perfect in every way. A precious gift from God!

And now here we are, 14 years later! Wow! What a long, wonderful (yet sometimes rocky) road this has been! Dylan has become such a smart, loving, and capable young man. I'm excited to see what his future holds, and look forward to all of the wonderful times to come.

We celebrated Dylan's birthday today by going to the movies for the opening day of "Diary of a Wimpy Kid". Dylan has the whole series of books, and they have been his favorite for many years. Then we did some birthday shopping, and went to lunch together at Mauricios. It's tradition to eat there on his birthday. We've done it for years! Shelby made Dylan a great "Happy Birthday" banner, to surprise him this morning when he woke up. That was sweet of her! They don't always get along the best, but when it comes down to it, she loves her brother, and she can't hide it! :)

Tonight we're going to pop popcorn and get cozy on the couch to watch Dylan's new favorite TV show, Who Do You Think You Are? It's a new show about researching family history. Right up his alley!

Happy Birthday my sweet baby boy Dylan!!! You are so loved!!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Wow! What a great St. Patrick's Day we had today!

All of the kids successfully found something green to wear this morning, so there were no St. Patty's Day pinches to go around. :)

Then we dropped Dylan & Shelby off at school for Enrichment classes, and the little guys and I headed over to the "Greg & Steve" concert. What a hoot those guys are! The boys had fun, even though Colson was embarrassed to do some of the silly dances. I guess at 5 he's just toooooooo mature for that. :) But Cameron was dancing in the aisles and got to shake hands with Greg. I remember taking Dylan & Shelby to see their concert 9 years ago. Seems like a month ago. Oh, how time flies!

After the concert, we put the finishing touches on Lucy's new stall and moved her in! The stall came out nice! Thanks to Colby & my Dad for helping to make it happen!

Shelby found "Lizzy", our family lizard who we set free at school. Not only did she find Lizzy, in the same flower bed we put her in, but she found Lizzy's buddy! The kids were glad to know she found a friend. Looks like she's doing well. :)

Dylan finished some neat projects in Wood Shop, and brought them home today. A gun rack, and a shelf to hang awards ribbons from. He did a great job, and is really enjoying his class.

Then, to top off our day, our hermit crab, who we were sure had died after he buried himself in the sand over a month ago, emerged! I guess that molting process takes longer than we thought! I almost dug him up and threw him away several times, but the kids wanted me to wait. Glad I listened!

It was a beautiful, sunny, 80 degrees today! Blue skies and sunshine! Such a beautiful day! Spring is a wonderful time of year. God's beauty is EVERYWHERE!!!!!!
Thank You God for this wonderful, beautiful, fun filled, St. Patrick's Day!

A Photographer In The Making......

Shelby asked for a new camera for Christmas, and that is just what she got. She has had an interest in photography for quite a while now, and has been snapping pictures left and right. She recently started taking a photography class, where she's learning even more. She seems to have a natural talent here, and a great eye! I wanted to share some of my favorite photos that she's taken in the past few months.

She's even tried her hand at some portrait work, using Colson as her model!
Check these bad boys out! :)

I can just see these in a wedding video one day! ;)

Stars, and Veterans, and a Scare.......Oh My!

What a day. We had so much to do...some fun, some not so fun.

Started the day with meetings with Mrs. Dane and Mrs. Roberts at Valley Oaks. And we got to check out the 1 day old baby bunnies on our way out. So cute!

Then on to the B.C. Planetarium for a field trip with the homeschool group. It was so cool! Although, Colson was afraid of the dark, and Cam fell asleep. :)
It made me want to get out the old telescope and do some stargazing! Aren't God's creations absolutely amazing!

Stopped by the Vietnam War Memorial Wall exhibit that is in town this week. Sooooo many names on that wall. It was nice for the kids to get to see that 1st hand so they could really understand the sacrifice. It was really very moving.

The rest of the day was pretty normal. Lunch, bank, chiropractor, the other bank, gas station, and then home to do some school work, chores, and start my work in the office.

Then Colby came home, said hello to everyone, and then asked...where's Cameron? Usually Cam meets Colby at the door. I told him Cam was in the bathroom playing with his toy jet ski in the sink. We went to find him, and no, he wasn't there. Cameron? Where are you? No answer. Cameron, Dad's home! Come here! No answer. I'm guessing it was 3-4 minutes of calling his name and turning the house upside down looking for him. It felt more like an hour. I was panicked. There was nowhere else to look. Where could he be. Maybe he went out the front door when Colby got home and we somehow missed it. I was absolutely terrified and shaking. By this time we were screaming his name, not knowing where else to look, when I heard a tiny voice....I'm in Dylan's room! I'm playing hide and seek! There he was, in the back of Dylan's closet under a duffel bag and a jacket. That little stinker! Well, I spent the next 5 minutes holding him, thanking God he was alright, and telling him that we NEVER play hide and seek unless EVERYONE knows we are playing! What a scare! We need to teach that boy Duck, Duck, Goose instead! :)
